Debate demonstrates Northam’s ability to work for Virginians and our environment

MCLEAN, Va. – Michael Town, Executive Director of the Virginia League of Conservation Voters Political Action Committee, issued the following statement following tonight’s gubernatorial debate between Virginia LCV PAC-endorsed candidate Ralph Northam and his opponent, Ed Gillespie.

“Tonight, Ralph Northam showed why he’s the only candidate who will work for the citizens of this commonwealth, including fighting to protect our environment. Ed Gillespie has spent most of his career working on behalf of big corporations or shadowy organizations that have worked to undermine climate science and roll back protections that keep families safe.

“Virginians have a clear choice this November: they can elect a governor who will side with science, engage the public, and stand up for our environment, or choose someone who will rubberstamp Donald Trump’s most extreme attacks on clean air and water at our expense.”
